Our Process

We have refined the way we deliver service to our clients over time.  Rich's mom is his hero.  Having been widowed early, Connie Rubino has been the guiding force in making sure her family stays close.  When Rich now returns home to New York for visits, he takes the time to sit with his mom and go over her finances and answers any questions she may have.  He has learned what she is most interested in: "Make sure the house is protected for your sister, and don't lose the money!"

Together Rich and Sam have perfected their process.

Free initial meeting: This "get to know each other" meeting allows the client to express what they are most concerned about.  This sets the stage and defines what the objectives are.

Second meeting: We will map out what the client's objectives are and what observations were made during the first meeting.  We discuss what recommendations we may have and options available to satisfy the client's needs.

Implementation meeting: By this meeting, "where it hurts and what medicine is needed" is clear.  We prioritize what is most important to get accomplished first to last.  Our staff will get involved to make sure all that needs to be done is implemented with care.

Review and monitor: On an as needed basis, with a minimum of an annual review, we can discuss what changes are necessary to stay on track.  Changes are often prompted by changes in the law, family situations, health concerns or a change in economic conditions.

We never under-estimate the importance of planning ahead.  We plan for the worst and hope for the best.  This way our clients have all of their bases covered.

History and Philosophy

Rich and Sam have been in business together since 1989.  When they first started out, it was just the two of them and a telephone.  Today, they have a dedicated and trained staff of four, an inviting office and a car service for the clients who don't want to drive.  Their motto: "to make a positive difference in everyone's lives that they touch."  You will find them busy helping clients get their finances in order to protect and preserve their estates.  You will find their staff busy providing exceptional service to these clients and have the comfort of knowing that you are dealing with real people that care!

Rich often talks about his mom (she is 88) and her wishes with her assets.  "Richard," she says, "just don't lose the money!"  Sam's parents (his dad is 91 and his mom 82) are from the same culture.  "Keep the money and home in the bloodline and make sure it is protected," they say.

With their clients they emphasize:
  • Sound basic principles and common sense
  • Principal protected accounts when appropriate
  • Employ tax efficiency and/or tax deferral strategies
  • Protect real estate and family heirlooms
  • Use trusts when appropriate for smooth transition to heirs
  • Reduce and/or eliminate probate and estate taxes
  • Protect and preserve assets if nursing home is needed
"My parents lived through the Depression, worked overtime to put me and my sisters through college and uprooted their lives to move to America from Hong Kong so we could have a chance at a better life," says Sam.  He often thinks about this, which drives him and gives him the passion to ensure a level of comfort for his parents during his retirement and the same dedication to all of his clients.
